Rochester-based Mary Stid is a traditional artist, drawing and painting subject matter of everyday objects and nature. She works in several media forms and has developed a unique watercolor technique. Mary needed a new logo and site design with a more appropriate visual theme, better performance and e-commerce functionality.
The existing site design was ill-suited to present artwork and was difficult to use. The site was Flash-based and had long load times due to fading and animated elements. Large areas of bold color detracted from the artwork and the artwork itself was not properly scanned to
accurately represent the originals.
The new logo reflected an 'artist's brush' technique with the incorporate logomark. The re-designed site featured a neutral color scheme that really enabled the re-scanned/color-corrected artwork to be properly showcased. Slideshow animations were created to communicate the variety of Mary's work. All of her work was logically categorized to be user-friendly. The new design was a more appropriate, better performing communications piece for Mary Stid and allowed for easier updates.
